Offset Your Carbon Emmissions...
First, let's explain what carbon offsetting is about. Every day our actions whether we know it or not contribute to using energy which in turn produces carbon dioxide (Co2) emmissions.
If we take a typical normal routine for example, we get in the car and drive to the supermarket, this amounts to Co2 being put in the atmosphere, even your radiators have the same effect when turned on.
Offsetting can compensate the amount you put in the atmosphere for the emissions produced with an equivalent carbon dioxide saving. Ie, Trees use up Co2, so planting a tree will help absorb some of the access Co2 we have built up.
There are many projects allowing individuals and even companies to work out how much they need to offset.
Greenhouse gases have an incredibly long life-span and tend to mix evenly in the atmosphere. It doesn’t really matter where gases are emitted in the world, the effect on climate change is the same wherever. To help balance up unavoidable emissions increases, by heating your home or driving to the supermarket for example, equivalent emissions reductions can be made elsewhere, meaning that the overall effect is zero.
Below are just a few good examples for offsetting your carbon emmissions. |
